The Prayer that Honors God

Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV)
9After this manner therefore pray ye:  Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  10Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  11Give us this day our daily bread.  12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.

1)  We Honor God with Reverence

          Hebrews 12:28-29 (NIV)
28Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,
29for our "God is a consuming fire."

2)  We Honor God with Recognition

          Nehemiah 9:5b-6 (NIV)
5b"Stand up and praise the LORD your God, who is from everlasting to everlasting." "Blessed be your glorious name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise.  6You alone are the LORD.  You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them.  You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.

3)  We Honor God’s Reputation

          Ezekiel 36:22-23 (NIV)
22"Therefore say to the house of Israel, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says:  It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you have gone.  23I will show the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, the name you have profaned among them.  Then the nations will know that I am the LORD, declares the Sovereign LORD, when I show myself holy through you before their eyes.
